A little help.
A moment closer.
Set up your storage and calendar, save a memory, and open it when its reminder arrives.
Email tillman.hudson@openlanternmedia.com. Include your app build, iOS version, storage provider, calendar provider, and the error text. Please omit passwords, authorization codes, and private media.
Set up once
- Open This Moment, Later → Settings and choose your reminder time.
- Choose the calendar where reminders should be saved: an available Apple/iPhone calendar account, Google Calendar, or Outlook Calendar. Approve the access requested for your choice.
- Choose iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or OneDrive for your private media copies. The calendar and storage can be from different providers.
- For Google Drive or OneDrive, connect the account you want to use. For iCloud Drive, select iCloud Drive in Files when prompted; the app creates its This Moment, Later folder.
- For iCloud playback, install the supplied ThisMomentLater shortcut, set its file action's folder to iCloud Drive → This Moment, Later, and confirm the shortcut setup in Settings. Keep any older KeepsakeOpen shortcut while older reminders still use it.
Save a reminder
- Choose a photo/video from Photos, choose a supported file through Other sources, or share a single media item to the app.
- Give the moment a name and choose its future date and time.
- Tap Save to calendar. Leave the app visible while the upload and calendar save complete. The app keeps its screen awake during saves started inside the app. Manually locking, switching apps, or using a share extension can interrupt a long save.
- Open the saved event to check the date and media link. Calendar notifications depend on your calendar account, alert permissions, device settings, and provider availability.
Common image, video, and audio formats are supported, including JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, MP4, MOV, and supported audio files. The app currently accepts one media item at a time, up to 2 GB, subject to available device and provider storage. Upload time depends on file size, network, and provider.
Open your saved media
On iPhone
Open the calendar event. Google Drive and OneDrive media links open their provider's page for your signed-in account. For iCloud, tap Open on iPhone to run ThisMomentLater. Accept first-run folder/shortcut permissions. Cloud-only files may take time to download.
On a computer
Google Drive and OneDrive links open in a browser. For iCloud, open iCloud Drive, sign in to the same Apple Account, click This Moment, Later, and select the exact filename shown in the calendar event.
Common questions
Will a second reminder create another media copy?
Identical media can reuse a previously saved copy. Google Drive and OneDrive reuse records are stored on your device and tied to the destination account/folder. iCloud checks matching file contents in the selected folder. Photos can export changed bytes on a later share; a different export may need a separate copy. OneDrive may offer a choice for a likely matching video—use an existing copy only when you recognize it. Existing duplicates are not deleted automatically because older events may link to them.
An upload failed or the connection dropped
Restore the connection and retry the same reminder. Do not treat an upload percentage of 100% as confirmation that the calendar save is finished. Wait for the final successful save. If the app reports that storage succeeded but calendar saving failed, retry from the preserved form. Check the event and media link afterward.
Google or Microsoft access stopped working
Reconnect the intended account in Settings and approve the permissions needed for your selected calendar/storage. If switching Google accounts, review calendar setup for the newly connected account. Your organization's administrator can restrict connected apps. If an error persists, send support the exact error text and build number.
The iCloud shortcut cannot find the file
Check Files → iCloud Drive → This Moment, Later for the exact filename in the event. Confirm ThisMomentLater points to that folder, the device uses the same Apple Account, and it is online for cloud-only files. Do not rename or move files referenced by older events. A different phone needs its own working shortcut/folder permissions.
What if I uninstall the app or revoke access?
Cloud files and calendar events remain in your accounts. Provider links can still work while the file/account remains available. iCloud playback needs the installed shortcut and its folder permissions. Reinstalling may recognize Keychain setup on the same device; another device needs setup and access to the same account.
Can I save with Siri?
Install the Save This Moment shortcut, also available in the app’s Settings. While viewing a photo in Photos, say “Hey Siri, Save This Moment.” When asked “When should it return?”, answer with an interval such as “one year” or a specific date such as “December 27, 2028.” On tested phones Siri may require a second button press to listen to the date response. Arbitrary dates appended to the shortcut name can be interpreted as a different Siri command. This route has been tested for photos; on-screen video/audio handoff is not promised.
How do I remove my information?
Delete the media from your chosen drive and the event from your calendar. To stop account access, use the provider's app-permission controls. Removing a local iCloud download keeps the cloud file; Delete removes the cloud file and can break playback. See the privacy policy for retention and support-contact choices.
Before a long-term reminder
Open a test event and verify playback. Keep your accounts, files, shortcut, calendar alerts, and permissions available. Future availability depends on those services and settings; the app cannot guarantee access or delivery indefinitely.
